For the past eighteen months or so, I have been spending a lot less time on social media, and a lot more time entering photography competitions and exhibitions. As a result, I have had my work shown in galleries all over the world around fifty times since late 2018.

This particular exhibition was truly unexpected. To be included in the 2019 Photographer of the Year show was in itself a shock, but the real surprise came from me having forgotten I’d entered work to be considered for the exhibition.

The exhibition took place in late February at the architecturally stunning Espaço Espelho D’agua, Lisbon. It would have been amazing to have been able to attend the event, however Portugal is just about as far away as you can possibly get from Lennox Head, so I have enjoyed the event through the images of others.

Maybe once the earth has recovered from COVID-19 and all the global travel restrictions have been lifted, I’ll find an excuse to make my way to Portugal and visit this incredible looking gallery.
