This afternoon, I had arranged an excursion for my students to Cabarita Beach in Northern NSW. It is generally a location full of opportunities for photographers. Beautiful white sand, rocky cliffs, amazing afternoon light and plenty of space for everyone to explore. About an hour before we were due to meet at the beach, heavy rains passed through the area, and as a result, only a couple of students showed up.
This was one of the images I captured while waiting for the students to arrive. I was drawn to this small cluster of rocks that stood apart from all the others on the cliffs, standing firm against the relentless attack of the constant waves... stable, motionless, steadfast. The image was shot using a 30-second exposure to give the waves that were crashing all around, a sense of stillness as well.
