Gardens By the Bay East is a great location to capture a panoramic shot of Singapore. From here you can capture the Marina Barrage to the left of frame, the Gardens by the Bay, the Marina Bay Sands hotel and city buildings in the centre of frame, across to the Singapore Flyer and continuing city buildings to the right of frame. It’s an expansive city view. And while I did indeed capture that shot while here, it was the incredible architecture of the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome structures that really drew me in. These are amazing looking buildings and as the first light rises across the horizon, they look all the more stunning.

My 13 year old daughter joined me on this visit to Singapore and I don’t think she realised just how much walking would be involved before signing up for the trip. Gardens By the Bay East was about a 90 minute walk from our hotel and we needed to be there before sunrise. So it was an early start (much earlier than my daughter is used to) and reasonably well paced walk. As foreign as these things are to her, she did an amazing job with very few complaints.

We spent maybe half an hour or so on the banks of the Gardens By the Bay East… me taking photos and my daughter Instagramming and recouping on a park bench… and then we set off for the 90 minute trek back to the hotel.
