There are few places in the world that would rival this view at sunset. Shot from Ponte Umberto I, looking down the River Tiber to St. Peter’s Basilica, it is hard to put into words just how spectacular this vista is.
Watching the sun fall behind Vatican City is a sunset I could happily enjoy over and over and over again. This was our first afternoon in Rome and while I set up all my camera equipment in a prime position on Ponte Umberto I, Michelle perched on top of the study sandstone handrail and quietly thumbed through the pages of her novel.
Arriving early is essential here as the bridge soon becomes quite crowded with fellow photographers and others who just want to enjoy the gorgeous view. As the light fades and the street lights start to illuminate the historic architecture, what was an incredible view, becomes simply magical.
