Today I caught up with an old friend, comedian, cartoonist and general all-round nice guy, Jason Chatfield. We dined at the famous Katz’s Delicatessen for lunch where I was presented with a sandwich large enough to keep me fuelled for several days. After lunch, I decided to be very targeted in my approach and focus on some of the city’s more popular landmarks. I jumped aboard the Staten Island Ferry just before sunset so I could capture a few shots of the Statue of Liberty in the late afternoon glow and then capture some night images of Manhattan Island from the Staten Island side. A few more images of Lady Liberty on the return journey and then I was off to the Flatiron building. It was a busy night (as I’m guessing most are) around Flatiron and so I tried to capture the hustle and bustle around this steadfast structure. The result is one of my favourite architectural shots from my time in the US to date.
