I touched down in Singapore into torrential rainstorms and the forecast was for similar weather all week. That certainly put a dampener on my mood and my plans for the week. Hours and hours of research suddenly seemed like a complete waste of time and effort. Great!

I went and checked into my hotel room and expected to be spending a lot more time there than I had originally planned. After a short time, I ventured outside and it was like I had been transported to somewhere completely different. The sun was shining, there was barely a cloud in the sky and suddenly my mood was again as bright as the sky outside.

It was nearing evening, so I made my way down to the Marina Bay area to find some dinner and explore that part of Singapore. The Marina Bay Sands puts on a free 15 minute light and water show twice every weekday evening and three times on weekends. It's a stunning display that elevates a spectacular cityscape to an absolutely enchanting showpiece.
